OUR STORY
His Story

One night, when I was a boy, I dreamt of a beautiful woman that I would one day marry… I was persistent for years, but Gabriel Union never replied back to my letters through college so I decided to move on. My years at the University of Rochester were an opportunity for me to get involved in everything around campus. In the fall of my 2nd year, I continued to venture out and I became an official co-choreographer of the hip hop dance group, Indulgence. During our first rehearsal, I had to assist a few new members on the routine, including a beautiful young freshman by the name of Yvonelle. I remember her being a know-it-all and rolling her eyes at everything I tried to help with. Over the next few months, we became friends and I quickly realized how special she was. I even followed her to the library (unchartered territory) a few times to study, although I always fell asleep minutes after booting up my laptop.
We started dating on November 04, 2006 (Thank you Alleah), and my life with her has developed into something beyond our wildest dreams. We graduated from U of R together in 2008, moved to Greensboro, NC to complete our post-baccalaureate program at UNC – Greensboro, and she followed me back to New York City in 2010. After realizing that life only got better with her at my side, I decided to hire her for the permanent position of my wife on May 4, 2012.

Her Story

I'll never forget the first time I met Keith. It was the fall of my first year at the University of Rochester and I had joined the Indulgence dance team. During one of our first rehearsals, I was learning a dance for an upcoming performance. The song was "Yeah" by Usher and I was killing it! I was turning and kicking and poppin like nobody's business, determined to be the best freshman on the team. Then in strolls Mr. James, trying to "instruct" me on how to properly do the Harlem Shake. Yeah right! "Excuse me, random guy, but I got this." We were inseparable from that day forward. He continued to try to teach me how to dance, and I taught him where the library was and how to use it. We made a great team. Two years later we started dating and my best friend became my rock, my confidant, my perfect complement.
As the years rolled on we continued to encourage each other to pursue our individual goals. In 2010, with prayer and Divine intervention, Keith and I both got accepted into professional schools in NYC!! (Sigh of relief) Over the next couple of years, my library skills kept us on track, and Keith's dancing lessons kept us sane. It's been a long journey but I am beyond ready to make the transformation from Ms. Yvonelle Moreau to Dr. Yvonelle James and start writing the next chapter of the greatest love story ever told.
